Today was Paige’s 1st Birthday party!!!  She had a lot of fun with everyone, crawling around, playing with Hannah, opening her gifts, and eating.  We were afraid she was going to be overwhelmed and cry, but she was great!  The only time she even complained was when she was in her high chair with her smash cake.

We had BBQ sandwiches, chips, potato salad, cole slaw, crock pot dip, cake, and ice cream.  Unfortunately, Paige did not enjoy her smash cake..she put her hand in it for a second and then tried to hand me the icing!  But, she did eat some cake off a fork with my mom and really liked it!

We had so much fun and were so thankful for all those that came out to spend the day with our special little princess!  Even though Paige will not remember it, Eric and I feel truly blessed!

    Birthday!

We had a great time with Paige on her birthday!  In the morning, we took her to Aldridge Gardens to take pics (on the post below).  In the evening, we went out to dinner with my parents at Logan’s (Paige’s favorite restaurant…she loves the rolls, sweet potatoes, and mac n cheese).   She also had her first real taste of sugar with her little birthday cupcake!  She seemed to enjoy it but did not really dig into it.

    1 YEAR Old!

    DSC_0010.jpgDSC_0015.jpgDSC_0053-2.jpgDSC_0097.jpgDSC_0134.jpgDSC_0171.jpg

Wow…what a difference 3 months can make!  She has really reached a lot of exciting new milestones since the last update!  It is hard to believe that a year has passed since she was a tiny little 8 (almost 9) pound newborn!

    - She is on the move!  She is a super fast crawler but no first steps yet

    - She can easily pull up and cruise around but will not stand independently for more than a second (and even then it is because she had been leaning on something and moved away for a second)

    - She is also a good stair climber

    - She now has4 top teeth and 4 bottom teeth

    - She is talking a lot now.   She has said ‘bye bye” appropriately, she can say “ma ma” directed to me, “da da” directed to Eric, “na na” directed to my mom, “ba ba” directed to her bottle, and “uh oh” when she drops something.  However, she only says these words with meaning sporadically

    -   She still thinks it is hilarious to be carried up the stairs with one of us coming up behind her.  She has also gotten to where she loves stomach zerberts

    - She can wave “bye bye”.  She does it both with her whole arm moving and with her hand waving back toward herself.  I think that is her cutest new skill :)

    - She can clap her hands together (and she is quite impressed with herself when she does it).  She also crosses her fingers all the time.

    - She can shake her head “yes” and “no”.  She really understands “no”.  You can tell her “no” when she is about to do something and she will shake her head “no”!  When she shakes her head “yes”, it seems that she is just imitating us.

    - She also has a good time handing something to you and then wanting you to hand it right back to her.  That game can go on for several minutes!

    - She has started a bad habit of grinding her teeth.  Hopefully that does not become a problem in the future

    - She is still very good natured and an overall happy baby.  She still does take time to warm up to people that she does not know well.  Hopefully when we put her in MDO (hopefully this fall) she will start to get over that

    - She never used a pacifier past a month or two old and she still rarely sucks her thumb (except when she is really hungry or tired)

    - She still loves bath time.  Now she has tons of bath toys that she enjoys playing with.  But, she does not like her head being leaned back to rinse her hair

    - Her sleep schedule is still basically the same.  She is sleeping 13+ hours a night!  She usually goes to bed around 8:00 pm and gets up at about 9:30 am.  She has dropped her morning nap (at least when she is at my parents house) and still has her 3 hour nap from about 3-6 pm every day.

    -  She is still a tummy sleeper, often with her knees up on her chest (which I think is the cause of many leaky diaper issues in the morning)

    - She is eating 3-4 6 ounce bottles per day and eating solids 3 times a day.  She generally has a jar of  Stage 2 food at breakfast and dinner, but she also eats cheese, bread, fruit, chicken, baby puffs, pancakes, etc every day.  She has not been a picky eater unless it is something green.  Unfortunately, she still does not even hold her own bottle!  She is also excellent when we go out to eat and usually eats a little of whatever we are having.

    - She has gotten very proficient and feeding herself with her hands.  We need to start with her using a spoon

    - She also loves to have food in her hand and will reach out to put it in my mouth.  She thinks it is pretty funny when she feeds me!

    -  She will drink water out of a glass, but still has not liked the sippy cup .  We have tried about 6 different styles now, but no luck.  Even having juice in the cup has not helped.

    - She weighs 21 pounds 14 ounces (50th to 75th percentile), is 31 1/4 inches long (75th to 90th percentile), and has an 18 1/2 inch head (90th percentile).

    - She has been extremely healthy!  No colds, ear infections, fevers, etc.  She never even complained when her teeth came in!

    - Her hair is really getting long, but it is still much lighter than it was when she was born.  Unfortunately she has gotten to where she does not like hair bows, so we have to suffer through the long bangs a little longer.

    - She is still wearing size 3 diapers

    - She is wearing mainly 6-12 month clothes and some 12-18 month.  Even though she is a big baby overall, she is pretty lean.  I have a ton of precious 12-18  month old summer outfits that I hope she will be able to wear!

    - She has quite small feet.  She is wearing a size 3 and babies her age should easily be wearing a size 4 or 5.

    - Her favorite game has got to be “peek a boo”.  She loves when we hide our face behind something, when we pop out behind a wall, or anything like that.  She also loves to crawl around my parents couch and “peek a boo” with my mom.  Sometimes she lets out the loudest screeches and giggles she loves it so much!

    - She really loves her blocks and has been learning how to put them in different containers.

    - She really loves books.  She will sit on your lap, hold a book, and turn all the pages for you

    - She loves to go places.  She loves sitting in a shopping cart and looking around (and grabbing things out of the basket) and she loves strolling in her stroller at the mall.

    - She has not latched on to a “comfort item”, but she LOVES her Minnie Mouse stuffed animal.  Luckily we have 2!

    - We have lots of little nicknames for her (or “terms of endearment” since I hate nicknames).  I often call her “swooters”, “tooters”, or “pooters” or any any combination of those.  Eric calls her “little baby” and “sweetie pie dumplin pants” and my dad calls her “boogress”.

    - She is still super cute :)

    Father's Day 2010!

    IMG_2652.jpgIMG_2654.jpgIMG_2676.jpgIMG_2681.jpg

Today we had a fun 1st Father’s Day!  We attempted to have pool time, but Paige had other ideas…she was more in the mood for a nap!  But, she did look precious in her little swimsuit!

Later, we went out to dinner to celebrate!

    Clapping!

Paige can clap her hands now!  She is also getting good at waving bye bye, but we have not been able to get that on video yet!

    8 teeth!

    IMG_2554.JPGIMG_2555.JPGIMG_2559.JPG

Paige now officially has 8 teeth!  Strangely, 5 of them came in at the exact same time!

    Breast Pump Retirement

    IMG_2545.JPG

Today is a bittersweet day…I have officially retired the breast pump. I made it until Paige was 10 1/2 months old, which is pretty good!

I did a rough calculation and figured out that I have spent approximately 600 HOURS of my life this past nearly 1 year pumping (to put that in perspective, my 3 month maternity leave was only 480 hours!), but I am thankful for the nourishment it gave to Paige (and the countless dollars saved on not having to buy much formula)!   Luckily I have also been able to store about 100 bags of milk in the deep freeze, so Paige will still be able to get breast milk (with formula added) until she is a year, which is just right around the corner.

    Paige can go up stairs!

We only have one semi-carpeted stair in the house, but Paige climbed it tonight!  I wonder what she could do if she had a whole flight in front of her!

    Paige is 9 months old!

    IMG_2179.JPGIMG_2185-2.jpgIMG_2197-3.jpgIMG_2202-2.jpg

Paige is 9 months old today!!!  Here is a list of some of her milestones and other things about her:

    - She now has 3 bottom teeth

    - She now can sit very well and can get herself in a sit from hands and knees

    - She has just started to crawl

    - She just pulled up for the first time unassisted.  We also just lowered her crib.

    - She is getting skilled at the pincer grip

    - She loves to jump and get around in her walker.  She also loves to sit on the floor and play with the toys around her (and anything else she can get her hands on)!

    - She is babbling a lot now (and shrieking).  She mainly says “dada”, “baba”, and something that sounds like “hey”.

    - We can really get her to laugh hystarically, but she is often reserved with her smiles.  She loves when we play peek a boo with her and she loves to go up the stairs with one of us coming up behind her.

    - She now lifts her arms for someone to pick her up.  She also likes reaching for each of us and getting passed back and forth.

    - We think she has waved bye bye a few times (or it could have been wishful thinking).

    - She definitely knows her name now and will turn when you call her.

    - She is still very good natured and an overall happy baby.  She does take time to warm up to people that she does not know well.

    - She still does not like a pacifier and rarely sucks her thumb now (except when she is really hungry or tired).

    - Her drooling just recently decreased.  Now you can actually see her cute outfits without a bib constantly covering it!

    - She still loves bath time

    - Her sleep schedule is still the same.  She is sleeping about 12-13 hours a night!  She usually goes to bed around 8:00 pm and gets up at about 9:00 am.  She also usually takes a short nap around noon and 3 hour nap from about 3-6 pm every day.

    -  She is still a tummy sleeper, often with her knees up on her chest.  But now she rotates in her crib many times a night.

    - She is eating four 6 ounce bottles per day and eating 3 Stage 2 foods a day on average. So far she has liked every food we have given her except for the green foods and corn casserole.  She even likes prunes, which is great since we have had to give it to her for constipation issues.

    - She does not really like finger foods yet.  We have tried giving her little pieces of cheese, chicken, baby puffs, and different bread products.  She usually stores them in her mouth and usually does not want a second bite but occasionally will take multiple bites.  She does like holding the finger food in her hands and we think she tried to feed herself today, but it may have been an accident.

    -  She will drink water out of a glass, but has not liked the sippy cup so far.  We have tried to give her juice, but she is not interested (even given in a bottle).

    - She weighs 20 pounds 8 ounces (75th percentile), is 29 inches long (90th percentile), and has an 18 inch head (90th percentile).

    - She is still wearing size 3 diapers

    - She is wearing 6-9 month and 6-12 month clothes.   We really love pediped shoes and she wears their 6-12 month size.

    - She is still super cute :)

    Pulling up

We got Paige on video pulling up tonight!  We also learned that we will need to buy some crib rail protectors if we want this convertible bed to last until she’s in high school (and still look nice).
